Lula Adds Leftist Ally Boulos to Cabinet Ahead of 2026 Race
Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva tapped congressman Guilherme Boulos for a key cabinet position, marking an attempt to shore up backing from the left ahead of the 2026 electoral race.
Lula on Monday appointed his close ally Boulos to head the general secretariat of the presidency, handing the lawmaker and former activist an important advisory role in charge of outreach to the social movements that form a major part of the president’s base.
