Canadian home sales fell in September, ending a five-month streak of gains as new listings decreased.

Transactions of existing homes were 1.7% lower than the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted data released Thursday by the Canadian Real Estate Association. Sales activity rose in Canada’s largest city, Toronto, but that was more than offset by declines in most other major cities. New listings slumped 0.8% in September, and the benchmark price of a home fell slightly to C$686,800 ($489,000).
