Of the 109 respondents to a poll conducted Oct. 2-3, 55% said only a shutdown lasting longer than a month would drag the S&P 500 lower in the final three months of the year. That view is likely getting support from expectations for another quarter-point cut to interest rates this month from the Federal Reserve — an outlook that 61% of survey participants say is just right.
