Emma Walmsley’s departure as chief executive officer of GSK Plc ends a near nine-year tenure at the British drugmaker. It also means the UK is losing another high-profile female business leader.

Despite efforts to have more female CEOs in the benchmark FTSE 100 index, the number will remain at just nine after Walmsley steps down.
