Gold Fields Ltd. agreed to the A$1.1 billion ($725 million) sale of a stake in Northern Star Resources Ltd. that it’s acquiring as part of a deal to take full control of an Australian gold mine.

The Johannesburg-listed company said on Friday that it entered a transaction to sell the shares in Northern Star held by Gold Road Resources Ltd. – confirming an earlier report by Bloomberg News. Gold Fields is finalizing a deal to purchase Gold Road, allowing it to take 100% ownership of the Gruyere mine in Western Australia.
