EU Parliament Chief Expects Lawmakers to Approve US Trade Deal

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said she expects the bloc’s lawmakers to give their blessing to a political deal struck with Washington that puts a 15% tariff on nearly all EU exports to the US.

“I’m fairly optimistic that we’ll have an agreement, without preempting what the outcome will be,” Metsola said at the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Forum in New York Wednesday. “And of course it will be scrutinized closely in the parliament.”
