American Air Delays Mount After Maintenance System Problem

American Airlines Group Inc. flight delays swelled to more than 1,000 on Wednesday before the carrier was able to resolve a technical issue affecting its aircraft maintenance procedures.

American didn’t specify the exact problem causing the hold ups, which prompted numerous complaints on social media sites such as X about late flights in cities including Philadelphia, Miami, Chicago, Tampa, Florida and Austin, Texas. More than one-third of American’s daily mainline flights were impacted, according to Flightaware.com, but regional airline partners weren’t impacted.
