Schonfeld to Open Sao Paulo Office Headed by Andre Laport

Schonfeld Strategic Advisors plans to open an office in São Paulo as part of the New York-based hedge fund’s effort to build a business in Latin America, according to people familiar with the matter.

Andre Laport, the co-founder of hedge fund Vinland Capital, who joined Schonfeld in July, will oversee the office as well as an expansion of the firm’s business in the region, one of the people said, asking not to be identified because no public announcement has been made.
