Chinese Firms Win Bid to Build Road Used for Cameroon-Chad Trade

The African Development Bank has approved the award of contracts to four Chinese companies to reconstruct a 278-kilometer highway in Cameroon’s north that’s vital for trade with neighboring Chad.

CGCOC Group, China Harbour Engineering Co., China First Highway Engineering Co. and China International Water & Electric Corp. will rehabilitate the road, which enables goods movement from Cameroon’s port city of Douala to N’Djamena, capital of its landlocked neighbor, said Danielle Bidja, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works.
