Photographer: Andrew Caballero-Reynolds/BloombergCargill Inc. has halted cocoa grinding in Ivory Coast as poor-quality beans with unusually high levels of waste material curb yields and risk damaging machinery, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The pause, which started a month ago, is the first such move by the US company outside of routine maintenance, the people said, asking not to be identified because they’re not authorized to speak on the matter. The company declined to comment.
