French Finance Minister Eric Lombard said he’s confident the government will be able to get the 2026 budget approved in parliament and is open to improving it through discussions with opposition parties.

Prime Minister Francois Bayrou gambled on the future of his administration on Tuesday with the presentation of a €43.8 billion ($50.9 billion) plan to narrow the deficit next year, based mainly on austere measures including freezing welfare and pensions.
