Fire at Cairo Telecom Hub Disrupts Internet, Phone Services

A blaze that broke out in a Cairo central telecommunications exchange disrupted some mobile phone and internet services in Egypt and briefly delayed flights taking off from the North African country.

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority didn’t detail the scope of what it described as a “temporary” outage of telecommunication services, which it said affected three telecom operators. “The impact of the fire on the services is limited,” the regulator said in an overnight statement on its Facebook page.
