Keir Starmer said Britain’s main opposition Conservative Party is in decline and that the choice for voters is now between his governing Labour Party and the right-wing populist Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.

“The Conservative Party has run out of road: their project is faltering, they’re in decline, they’re sliding into the abyss,” Starmer told reporters after delivering a speech attacking Farage at a manufacturing plant in northwest England. He warned that tax-and-spend plans outlined by Reform this week would risk a market meltdown similar to that in the fall of 2022 following then-Conservative Prime Minister Liz Truss’s so-called mini-budget, packed with tens of billions of pounds of unfunded tax cuts.
