NYC Homebuyers Forge Ahead on Deals Even as Uncertainty Swirls

Through a month of stock market jolts and whiplash over the Trump administration’s tariff policies, New York City homebuyers were undeterred.

Contracts to purchase co-ops, condos and one-to three-family houses in Manhattan surged 41% in April from the same month in 2024, according to appraiser Miller Samuel Inc. and brokerage Douglas Elliman. Deals in Brooklyn were up 36%.
