Sudan’s military-backed government formally cut ties with the United Arab Emirates over what it described as “ongoing aggression” in the North African nation’s civil war.

The decision came hours after a third drone attack in as many days rocked the main coastal city of Port Sudan, the de-facto seat of Sudan’s military-aligned government since shortly after conflict with the Rapid Support Forces militia erupted in April 2023. Sudan has accused the UAE of supplying weapons to the RSF, an allegation Abu Dhabi has repeatedly denied.
