The State Department dismissed as premature reports that the Trump administration is seeking to slash the agency’s budget almost in half, including by eliminating US funding for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the United Nations.

“There is no final plan, final budget,” department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce told reporters Tuesday. “Only President Trump has that information, and we’re going to see it soon” as the White House prepares to seek congressional approval for its proposed federal budget, she said.
