US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum that aims to reduce the Department of Defense’s civilian workforce as the federal government seeks to cut spending.

“The net effect will be a reduction in the number of civilian full-time equivalent positions,” the Department of Defense said in a statement early Saturday, citing the memo Hegseth signed the day before.
