Hungary’s Central Bank Chief Probes Predecessor’s Foundations

Hungary’s new central bank leadership under Governor Mihaly Varga has launched a probe into controversial foundations that his predecessor set up more than a decade ago.
The foundations and their asset manager will be subject to a thorough legal review, the National Bank of Hungary said in a statement on Tuesday. The central bank has also notified the State Audit Office, which is charged with overseeing public funds.
