A subsea data cable that has sustained damage offshore the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea remains operational, its Finnish owner said.

There’s likely a scratch on the high speed C-Lion1 Finland-Germany link, but data transmission on the cable continues uninterrupted, according to Cinia Oy. It’s not clear when the damage occurred, but Cinia confirmed it this week after its systems alerted, Hannu Muikku, business director of the connectivity and network solutions unit at Cinia Oy, said by phone on Friday.
