NATO Chief Backs Use of Western Weapons to Hit Russian Targets

  • Allies should consider ending restrictions, Stoltenberg says
  • Says striking ‘military, legitimate targets’ is self-defense

NATO members should ease their prohibitions on using weapons they supply to Ukraine to strike military targets in Russia, the alliance’s secretary-general said in an interview with The Economist.

“The time has come for allies to consider whether they should lift some of the restrictions they have imposed on weapons donated to Ukraine,” Jens Stoltenberg told the magazine.
