Marks & Spencer Group Plc plans to raise store workers’ pay, joining rival retailers including Aldi and J Sainsbury Plc amid pressure to retain workers.
The UK company on Tuesday said it will pay customer assistants £12 ($15.2) per hour starting in April, a 10% increase on last year. London store employees’ hourly rate will increase to £13.15, it said. All workers will now get the Real Living Wage, a voluntary minimum set by a non-profit organization.
