Almost 50 million people played America’s fastest-growing sport last year, as pickleball emerged as an inescapable and sometimes controversial phenomenon. George and Amal Clooney have their own court; in July, Michael B. Jordan and Drake invested in Brooklyn’s Major League Pickleball team. For Joola, a trusted name in pingpong since 1952, the pivot was natural. In June it extended its partnership with Ben Johns, the top-ranked player in singles and doubles, on the $250 Ben Johns Perseus CFS paddle.
