Lesotho Declares Two-Week State of Emergency as Bills Not Passed

Lesotho’s Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro declared a state of emergency after lawmakers in the southern African kingdom parliament failed to pass two bills, including one aimed at more regulation of political parties in parliament.
The state of emergency will continue until Aug. 29, Majoro said in a notice in the Government Gazette published on Tuesday.
