Denmark’s government is pushing to get the traditionally eurosceptic Nordic nation to join the European Union’s defense cooperation as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

If voters opt to stay outside the bloc’s defense pact, the Nordic nation will be sidelined in a crucial area that is set to dominate the European Union’s agenda for years to come, Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod said in an interview in Copenhagen.
