Breaking bread is a foundational act of fellowship and community. The only thing that makes it better is … butter. The $125 Better World butter set is a collaboration between two Los Angeles organizations, Would Works and People’s Pottery Project. These groups offer paid job training and social support to people experiencing homelessness, and to formerly imprisoned women, trans, and nonbinary people, respectively. The stoneware dish is a little less than 5 inches wide and about 3.5 inches tall with its cloche on. It was designed by People’s Pottery Project co-founder Domonique Perkins, who was incarcerated for more than 13 years. The knife, made of black walnut, was designed by Would Works program director Michele Liu.
