World leaders including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and Senegalese President Macky Sall called for a more “inclusive multilateralism” to overcome the social, political and economic challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We believe that this pandemic crisis can be an opportunity to rebuild consensus on an international order based on multilateralism and the rule of law -- through effective cooperation, solidarity and coordination,” the leaders said in a joint commentary published in several newspapers including the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
