A battle over whether appointees of President Donald Trump should start regulating state incentives for rooftop solar panels threatens to upend clean energy in the U.S.
A New Hampshire-based group is asking the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to oversee how utilities pay homeowners for excess solar power they feed onto the grid. The incentives, long opposed by utilities, are currently governed by individual states. If FERC takes over, the programs are in jeopardy, clean-power advocates say.
