The S&P 500 Index’s biggest one-day drop since Jan. 3 was also a broad one, with more than 90 percent of members falling amid the escalating U.S.-China trade war. The breadth of Monday’s decline was also the most since May 7, when U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threat was still just that.
