Inequality Deserves Same Billing as Growth: World Bank Economist

Policy makers should give the same priority to reducing inequality as they do to boosting growth, according to the World Bank’s chief economist.
There’s often too much focus on top-line growth numbers at gatherings such as the past week’s World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings in Washington, Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg said in an interview in Washington. “We’re talking about a slowdown of a few decimal points,” she said. “We should approach that with a lot of caution. But there are also many other issues we should worry about.”
