It has been 25 years since Syracuse -- led by twin left-handed, Canadian wunderkinds Gary and Paul Gait -- won the national championship. You won’t find that title in the National Collegiate Athletic Association record book. The governing body for college sports placed an asterisk next to SU’s third consecutive title because of a secondary rules violation: Coach Roy Simmons Jr.’s wife, Nancy, without telling her husband, co-signed a car loan for Paul Gait’s wife.
