Portuguese regulators and central-bank officials are looking into the relationship between Eurofin Holding SA and Espirito Santo International SA, which filed for creditor protection last month, the Wall Street Journal reported.
An employee of Lausanne, Switzerland-based Eurofin was Espirito Santo’s only auditor, the report said. Eurofin also helped Banco Espirito Santo SA create debt products to sell to individual investors in deals that might have been intended to support other parts of the Espirito Santo group, the report said, citing unidentified Portuguese officials.
