Libya won dismissal of a lawsuit brought in the U.S. by residents and foreign nationals who claimed the African country provided material support during a 24-year campaign of bombings by the Irish Republican Army.
U.S. District Judge James Robertson in Washington today threw out the suit, saying that a law passed by Congress last year to normalize relations with Libya closed a legal loophole that had previously allowed such cases to go forward.
