Insurers Pushed More Use of Rating Firms, Dilweg Says

U.S. insurers, which are asking regulators to reduce their reliance on ratings firms, had previously pushed state commissioners to expand the use of credit grades, Wisconsin’s industry watchdog said.

“There was pressure from industry for us to use them, and that pressure built over a decade,” Insurance Commissioner Sean Dilweg said in an interview on Bloomberg Television.
